Kardashian works on her body six days a week, focusing mainly on endurance fitness and core strength. She also rarely strays from her strict diet routine, all of which has helped her regain her fitness following two intense pregnancies (her third and fourth children, Chicago and Psalm, were delivered via a surrogate).

There’s a reason Kardashian West has managed to maintain her figure post-pregnancy, and it’s mainly thanks to her past devotion to the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet is known for almost completely cutting out carbohydrate intake and instead incorporating an abundance of protein and healthy fats, similar to the Dukan diet that Kate Middleton reportedly swears by.

However, after going cold-turkey on carbs, Atkins encourages you to re-introduce them back in to your diet in small portions, so as to avoid complete carb deprivation.

DIET: Plant-Based And Low-Carb

Though she reportedly lost 70lbs (around 31 kilograms) after each pregnancy from the Atkins diet, Kardashian West said on TV show The View that she’s started to incorporate more carbs into her diet, and stray from the Atkins diet’s strict rulings.

She also took to her paid app in 2018 to dispel thoughts that she completely omits carbs, saying: “There’s a myth that eating carbs is bad, but this isn’t true!”

Kim also said: “My trainer Mel [Alcantara] always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken. You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat and carbs”.

Kim’s trainer Melissa Alcantara has said she came over to Kardashian West house and purged her pantry of anything unhealthy or unnecessarily processed. Some of these products included “vanilla wafers, graham crackers and rice crispy treats”, according to E! Australia.

With Alcantara in charge of her health regimen, it’s safe to say that KKW is beholden to a fairly rigorous diet.

Under Melissa’s rigorous schedule, Kardashian West workout routine has dramatically changed—with the reality star working out six days a week, with no excuses.

Kim has previously said that she wakes up at around 5:30am to exercise, and according to E!, the mother-of-three pulls out all the stops during her 90-minute gym workouts. KKW told E!: “I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights, I don’t do a lot of cardio.”

“I’ve been working out really hard-core with a bodybuilder for one year.”

Alcantara shared her and Kardashian West’s fitness schedule with Women’s Health, saying they work out together most days and incorporate a plethora of leg and butt workouts—but focus mostly on building muscle through weight training.

They also dedicate one entire day of the week to ab workouts, but still make sure they’ve covered all the bases.

According to Alcantara: “85 per cent of our training is weight training, and the other 15 is made up of cardio. Kim loves to work the back of her legs—the hamstrings and the booty!”

Part of Kardashian West’s workout secret, aside from her penchant for weightlifting, is her reluctance to ever cancel a workout or give up (as cliché as that might sound).

Alcantara told Women’s Health that “badass mom” Kim will never cancel on her, no matter how early it is or how busy her day looks. Alcantara said that Kim is “super responsible, she never cancels—she’s the best client and athlete you could have.”

Her dedication is admirable, but Alcantara says that once working out is a part of your routine, that you’ll never even consider cancelling. “Once [working out is] part of your daily routine and your life, then it’s not something you have to think about, you just have to do it.”
