Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, Wednesday, April 5, Wendell Barber Wendell L. Barber, 67, Lancaster, passed away Monday, April 3, 2000, at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born in Oxford, N.Y., on July 10, 1932, to the late Orma and Iva Barber. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict as staff sergeant in the 801st Air Police Squadron stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base, now Rickenbacker Air Force Base. He was a member of the American Legion Post 11, where he was a past Legion Commander.

He was one of the founding members of the Lancaster Men's Chorus and attended the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alisa and Greg Collins of Lancaster; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Monica Barber of Grand Rapids, and Shawn and Kelly Barber of Bakersfield, eight grandchildren; special friend, Joann Barber Markwood; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Halteman-Fett Dyer Funeral Home, with Dr.

Brooks Heck officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct services at the funeral home following the memorial service. Barnett, 73, West Jefferson, passed away Monday, April 3, 2000, at his daughter's home in Lancaster. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Atlas Transfer. He is survived by his wife, Rozella H. Butcher Barnett of Chillicothe; daughter and son-inlaw, Penny and Dale Forrest of Lancaster; stepdaughter, Helen and Richard Williamson of Chillicothe; granddaughters, Alesha (Forrest) Reverman of Columbus and Amy Rice of Columbus; one great-grandson, Caleb Reverman; brother, Jack Barnett of Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Morgan Bar- PASSING SCENE Milton Brutten DEVON, Pa. (AP) Milton Brutten, an expert on dyslexia who founded one of the nation's first private schools for children with learning disabilities, died March 16 of complications from a stroke. He was 77. Brutten was a clinical psychologist and an early leader in the field of special education. He frequently consulted with public and private schools and with families trying to obtain educational services for children with dyslexia.

In 1960, he co-founded the Vanguard School in Paoli, one of the earliest schools of its kind, for children with learning disabilities. Buckley graduated from Pleasantville High School and received her nursing degree from the Philadelphia Children's Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Mrs. Buckley served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. at the rank of first lieutenant.

During World War II, she was assigned to the 118th Evacuation Hospital and saw service in the Rhineland and central Europe campaigns. In January 1946, she received a commendation for her service from the Chief Army Ground Forces. A record of her service is inscribed in the "Women in Military Service for America" memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. After World War II, Col. and Mrs.

Buckley purchased a home in Arlington, where she and Col. Buckley resided between his tours of duty in New Jersey, Japan, Kansas, Texas and Germany. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Col. Thomas Buckley, U.S. Army, a sister, Mrs.
